Will Straughan

Founder and CEO

Will has taught substance abuse prevention education to thousands of young people in over twenty states in the US and throughout Asia, Europe, and Latin America. In his previous experience with FCD Prevention Works, he was Regional Officer for the Southeastern United States, Senior Prevention Specialist and helped facilitate professional development workshops and trainings within the organization. Will utilizes his personal story of addiction and twelve years of healthy recovery to communicate critical prevention principles to young people and generate non-judgmental, age-appropriate conversations about alcohol and other drugs. 

A North Carolina native and a resident of Asheville, NC, Will grew up in Chicago attending public schools before graduating from Woodberry Forest School in Virginia. He attended Wake Forest University and Trinity College (Hartford, CT), graduating from Trinity in 1996 with a B.A. in English Literature. In addition to his career in prevention education, Will has served as Director of Annual Fund for Montreat Conference center, a Lead Youth Mentor for YMCA’s 21st Century Program, and is a founding member of the Asheville based Americana music trio Red June. When travelling for work or when at home, Will likes to trail run, find local restaurants, play music, and follow Chicago Cubs baseball.

Becky Bergeron, LMSW

Program Development

In her work, Becky draws upon her educational and professional training as well as her own journey through a substance use disorder and recovery. This background has helped her understand the importance of using effective interventions in a manner that values individual and community strengths and needs.


Becky started her career in substance abuse prevention at FCD Prevention Works, where she facilitated professional development trainings and delivered services to students and school adults throughout the United States and internationally. Prior to this, she worked as a youth and family therapist in treatment foster care and public school settings in Baltimore, Maryland and surrounding areas. Becky has a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and BA degrees in psychology and art from St. Mary's College of MD.


Becky stays current with mental health and substance abuse research developments through trainings and local volunteer opportunities in her current home state of Georgia. In her spare time, you can find her practicing self-care and healthy highs. She is training in Krav Maga and enjoys birdwatching, whitewater paddling, and other outdoor activities.
